"A cup of Joe" - Interesting Facts (or is it fiction?) About Coffee

Here at the “Coffee Date” - we LOVE coffee. TRUE, we believe that we produce the best coffee alternative, but it is not because we don't like the richness and delights of a great “cup of Joe”. Exactly the opposite, we make sure our coffee alternative is equally rich in flavours and has a distinct coffee like aroma.

So where does this “cup of Joe” comes from?

The legend says that the US Navy used to serve alcoholic beverages on board ships (hmmmm espresso liqueur anyone?). However when Admiral Josephus "Joe" Daniels became Chief of Naval Operations, he outlawed alcohol on board ships, except for very special occasions.

Coffee then became the drink of choice, hence the term "Cup of Joe".

Did you know that coffee was first known in Europe as “Arabian Wine- perhaps Admiral Josephus "Joe" Daniels simply wanted "alcohol free wine" to be served on board the ships??? :-)

Talking about ancient far away land... . In the ancient Arab world, coffee became such a staple part of family life that one of the causes allowed by law for marital separation was a husband's refusal to produce coffee for his wife.

Not much has changed since than!
